test review
type: | Unijet |
manufacturer: | Pichler /The World Models |
wing span: | 650 mm |
lenght: | 1000 mm |
weigth emty: | 517 g |
weight complete: | 644 g |
edf: | 1 * 55 mm (inrunner) |
material | EPS |
type | ARF |
included | plane, 3 servos, 1 EDF, 1 brushless motor, 1 brushless ESC, 1 Lipo battery, |
thrust: | 700g at 10,8Volt 32 Ampere 31.200 U/min |
First impression:
The box, in which the kit arrives, is made of EPS and holds the parts well fixed.
What about the small parts?
The only small parts belong to the landing gear. Furthermore you will find the lipo battery and an appropriate lipo charger and balancer as well as the manual.
Accessories used for completion
1 Futaba receiver R608FS
What is left to do?
Both wings, vertical fin, nose and 3 landinggear legs have to be glued to the fuselage. Rudder linkage and aileronserrvo cables need to be connected before completion by the added lipo battery and reiceiver.
To complete the plane for flight one will need a receiver with (at least) 4 channels (2* ailerons 1* Rudder and 1* esc).
The transmitter must have delta-mixers and should have exponential-setting to 30%.
The flightbatterie
is included and has 1300 mAh with Deans plugs. The lipo charger is also included.
The brushles ESC
Even the esc is included and installed. Technical data is not available.
Take off:
The plane can be ground started by its landing-gear. It starts from every ordinary hardsurface and holds direction very well.
Alternatively one can do without the gear and hand launch the plane which results in better inflight looking. Logically first start by a routined launcher. Some few steps and leveled launching and the rafale is airborne. Due to its powerful edf it accelerates fast and gains height quick.
Flight:
The Rafale does not need full throttle after start. It has enough power and good climb rate at full power for upward maneuvers. The Silhoutte is matches the detailed finish of the plane and the behaviour is well and in no way difficult.
Landing:
The rafales landing speed is far lower than the 'fast looking' suggests. As many other edf-jets ii is easy to land. On the end of approach one pulls the elevator more and more and gets a very smooth touch down.
Impression:
The Rafale is been made of fine eps. This not even gives a low weight but allows a detailed surface.
On the other hand the material is more sensitive than EPP. If one likes to gain the scale look one should have experiences in "landings"... Aeronautical there are no advanced skills necessary. The rafale therefore is recommend for those intermediate model pilots to enter the world of edf planes.
With more than 700g of thrust the model equates the original even in this aspect.
Only negative point is the sensitive material.
Potential:
The Rafale does not need any tuning. With a thrust weight ratio better than 1 ist has enough power to support jet like flying. Maybe a second battery for more flights a day ....
Conclusion:
Hype Rafale is a high prefabricated arf-model for the intermediate modelpilot to start into edf-flying. whith a bit more skills due to the wood-construction. The more 'novice' should use this plane as second after an EPP like Twister. Remarkable: very high degree of manufacturing and details, complete wirh battery and charger.
